Invictus Games 2016 Press Round Up

Sean has been selected to represent the UK in the second Invictus Games which are taking place in Orlando this month. Obviously while as proud as proud could be we don’t want all the attention going to his head. So for every media mention, mainstream or social, he get’s fined a crate of beer.

Here’s the list so far, with links so you can read about his awesomeness yourself.

On the Socials

Sub7 – Let the Games Begin…….. On 8th May the Opening Ceremony of the 2016 Invictus Games will kickstart a fantastic week of international sport. The 2016 Games will take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sport in Florida and showcase sporting endeavour of the highest order from the 15 competing nations in attendance. Indoor Rowing features strongly on Day 1 (Monday 9th) and Sub7 has the absolute pleasure of having members Anna Pollock and Sean Gaffney competing on the erg as well as their other events (swimming track, field, lifting and cycling) Short of actually being there ourselves (tickets are available!) The Sub7 Indoor Rowing Club thought the next best thing was to show our support in our own special way – banging out some metres !! It's a simple session, which we want as many indoor rowers to complete as possible, ideally on Sunday 8th May. The session to be rowed is 4K @ R20 – 2'r – 336m @ R16 By way of explanation: 4336 – The distance in miles from London (last host city of the Games) to Orlando. 2016 – This year's Games 2 – 2nd hosting of the Games. If you have access to Rowpro please list or join a Sub7 Invictus Support Session to encourage worldwide participation…. Let's really get behind all of the athletes. Once rowed, post your result on social media and hashtag it #IAmSub7 and add a message of support to all competitors. And just one more thing….. All of the athletes competing have benefitted in one way or another from charity funding. For many of them this unbelievable sporting opportunity would not have been achievable without the support of the many charities linked to the 15 nations represented. Leading in the UK is Help for Heroes. Let's not forget how much we all owe to the Service men and women competing in the games and those who are still using sport in their rehabilitation. If you can, please dig deep and help our heroes #invictusgames2016 #concept2 #IndoorRowing #erg #crossfit #fitness #Dropthemic #IAMSub7 #helpforheroes
